Skills Training
God gave skills to Bezalel and Oholiab to build a sanctuary! God has put skills, gifts, and abilities into everyone of our precious HOH children. One question people have asked many times over the years is this, “What is happening to the children who age out of HOH residential homes?” We have been and are addressing this as best we can in a country where unemployment is somewhere between 80-90%. There are no simple solutions but through our local church partners we try to give our children opportunities to reach their God given potential.
Aged Out Children - Sarudzai Mataruse
I recently made a quick 3 week trip to Zimbabwe and then on to Nigeria. I arrived at the Zimbabwe airport way ahead of time and I went to a coffee shop and asked for some hot water. A smiling young woman graciously filled my cup. About an hour later as I was waiting to “check in” the same young woman came up to me and said, “Do you recognize me pastor Glen?” I quickly asked her to please refresh my memory! She said, “my name is Sarudzai and I was taken into the “Glen Norah HOH Home” in 2004.”
Now, Sarudzai,
has finished her Hotel and Catering Course and she is working at Harare International Airport! I was so thrilled to hear her story and wanted to share it with you. She has a sibling named Raymond who is in our Philadelphia home and is doing form one. This is a recent picture of Sarudzai from her facebook page.
Your generosity has also enabled us to build this skills training block at Habitation, to provide opportunities for our HOH children to develop their skills. We are grateful!
