Mapesa

My name is Mapesa Gomiyo I am 23 years old. I came to Westgate Haven when I was 11years old. Since I came to Westgate Haven God has been so faithful to me. I sat for my O’level exams in 2015 and by God’s grace I managed to pass seven subjects including Maths and English. I was overwhelmed with joy. I continued my studies at Mabelreign Girls’ High School. I was honoured to be nominated the Chairperson for Scripture Union Club as well as a president for the First Aid Club not forgetting that I was also a prefect. In all these responsibilities I noticed God was doing something in my life as I was taught on how to become a God-fearing leader. In 2017 I wrote my A’level exams and I passed with 10 points. I never thought I would make it that far, but I came to realize God is always by my side I need to trust in Him and work hard in order to achieve my goals. In February 2018 I got a place at the University of Zimbabwe and it was my greatest joy. On the 10th of December 2021, my dream came true, I graduated from the University of Zimbabwe with an Honours Degree in Administration. Who knew that a village girl like me who did not even know there was something called a university would one day become a whole graduate? I serve a living God. I want to give God all the Glory for allowing me to get this far. I also want to thank Westgate Haven with the help of Hands of Hope and Calvary Baptist Church for the great work they are doing. Without their efforts I would not have made it this far. To God be the Glory.

Mapesa’s testimony was unedited. Patty and I have known her since she was 12, thus having the privilege of seeing her grow into a young woman with a heart for the Savior. She loves to sing, has a beautiful voice and has been such a wonderful mentor to the younger girls. This marks the 6th university graduate from Westgate Haven.

Our Lord Jesus is in the heart transformation business. Patty and I do not know all of you like we know Mapesa but we do know your heart to some extent. Thank you for not just storing up treasure on earth and for helping children grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior. May 2022 be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. We are humbled to have you on our HOH team!
