July 2025

There is a cherished African proverb that says, “It takes a village to raise a child.” In Zimbabwe, where more than 1.3 million children have been orphaned, we are reminded daily that the task is great, but our King is unrivaled and undefeated!

For more than 25 years, we have witnessed transformation up close and personal - child by child, heart by heart—across our homes, preschools, bridging schools, and at our 134-acre Habitation of Hope Campground. Together, we are raising a generation through our local HOH Zimbabwe churches that love the Savior of the world so that children hear the only “good news” that delivers from the wrath to come.

For more than a decade, Hands of Hope has faithfully hosted pastors’ and caregivers’ conferences, bringing together church leaders from various projects we partner with to strengthen their ministries and foster meaningful connections. Since 2014, this annual gathering has been a pillar of encouragement and spiritual growth for those who serve in partnership with Hands of Hope. It is with joy and by the grace of God that this year marks the 11th consecutive pastors’ conference, a testament to the enduring commitment of HOH to equip and uplift faith leaders. Over the years, these conferences have evolved into a transformative space where pastors receive biblical instruction, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and explore practical ways to enhance their orphan care effectiveness.

All of us who had the privilege of presenting this past May challenged all our attendees to think beyond themselves, sacrificing not just for today but for the next generation. We reinforced that ministry is a blessing, a tool for transformation, and a means to destroy the cycle of poverty. By embracing purposeful service, financial wisdom, and diligent work, caregivers can create lasting change, ensuring that the children they nurture grow up with the same values of Christ-reliance, excellence, responsibility, and love for Jesus!

Luke 16:9 says, "Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home.” Thank you for not storing up here on earth but for sacrificing like our Savior!
