Celebrating our Heroes in Child Care
Heroes are often celebrated on stage or screens, but the greatest heroes work quietly behind the scenes, transforming lives without fanfare. We honor all our housemothers who dedicate their lives to caring for children in our homes across Zimbabwe. These women, who make up 98% of our caregivers, are the heartbeat of our mission. They wake up before dawn, prepare meals, wash clothes, and tend to every need of the children. They are the first to notice if a child is unwell, spending sleepless nights in hospitals when needed. They are the foot soldiers of childcare, creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can grow and thrive.
One hero is Babra R. Muzorori. Babra has served faithfully at Philadelphia Homes, dedicating over two decades to caring for children. Her journey began in 2001 at Highfields and continued at Glen Norah Home in 2003. She has never married, except to her Lord and Savior, and her life’s work is a testimony to her devotion to God and to the children she calls her own. Babra’s greatest joy is watching children grow, thrive, and become self-sufficient—many starting families of their own. She also carries the weight of loss, having said goodbye to Atalia and William, two precious lives. Yet, through it all, she continues to serve with unwavering love and faith.
We thank God for Babra and supporters like you. It is because of your prayers, encouragement, and generosity that heroes like Babra can continue their work. You are also helping to transform the lives of children and giving them hope for a brighter future. Thank you for standing with us and for believing in this mission. Together, we can ensure that these heroes have the resources they need to keep changing lives.
