“He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes, with the princes of His people. He makes the barren woman abide in the house as a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD!” Psalm 133:7-9
As I type fires are raging in Northern and Southern California. Hundreds of homes, some worth more than one million dollars are being reduced to nothing but one big ash heap. We are praying for those who are escaping with just the clothes on their backs. Many of the children in our HOH homes come to us with just the clothes that they were wearing. Isaiah 61:3 says, “To those who have sorrow in Zion, I will give them a crown of beauty instead of ashes. I will give them the oil of joy instead of sorrow, and a spirit of praise instead of a spirit of no hope.”
Vimbainashe
It is my joy to introduce you to Vimbai who lives in our HOH Chileleko home in Hatfield. She is 12 years old and has suffered and survived from circumstances that I am not comfortable sharing in a newsletter. She is the 3rd born to a single mother. Vimbai was under the care of her maternal uncle when it came to the attention of the Government Department of Social Welfare that the she was being treated in a way that no child should ever be treated. She was placed in Chileleko on the 14th of December 2018. She is currently doing grade 2 having lost 5 years of schooling. She is undergoing counseling to help her deal with the trauma from her past.
Vimbai is one whose life could have been reduced to life of ashes, but with the loving care at Chileleko and our church parter Global Life she is beginning to thrive and not just survive. You can see the smile on her face, our Savior is giving her the oil of joy instead of sorrow as well as a spirit of praise instead of a spirit of no hope.
We all need biblical hope and because of your sacrifice Vimbai has a hope, a family and a future. We are unable in words to express our gratitude for your prayers and support for these children.
