“Who is like the Lord our God, who is enthroned on high, who humbles Himself to behold the things that are in heaven and in the earth? He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap” Ps. 113:7

Tapiwa

The answer to King David’s question is no one. No one can compare with the Lord our God. We have seen the Lord raise child after child from the ash heap, from the streets, from being left to die. In May I was in Zimbabwe and preached at pastor Mutatu’s church in Highfield a suburb of Harare. I first met him and his wife Irene in 2000. They were feeding 25 vulnerable children from the streets. Our HOH Zimbabwe board decided to start our first feeding project and took on the budget for food for another 25. One of the young boys who came was Tapiwa. They found out very quickly that he was not well due to contacting AIDS from his mother at birth. Antivirals were super expensive then and we kept him alive one year to the tune of $5,000 US. The donors were a couple from Valley church. We almost lost him on several occasions but the Lord raised Tapiwa up from his death bed.

After the service at Highfield Nazarene on May 5th Tapiwa came up and gave me a big hug. He is now married and the Lord has blessed him and his wife with two beautiful children. He lives and works on a farm with his precious family. He loves to sing and praise the Lord and currently helps in the worship ministry.

We gathered with 3 other couples to pray for 6 months before HOH started. We prayed for Tapiwa’s healing and he has been raised to walk in newness of life. Who is like the Lord our God? “For from Him, and to Him and through Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen!” Rom. 11:36
