Skills Training 

It is a joy to share a report on the progress of our 1 year “Sewing Training Project”, called Simira Sewing Skills. Our inaugural group is composed of 7 aged-out young women from six HOH projects. The first 6 months consists of intensive enhancing and garment designing. The last 6 months will be committed to cloth and textile marketing. Our goal at the end of the year is to open up a dress shop where they will put what they have learned into practice, but will also enable them to live on their own.

Meet Adrian

Adrian is from Lupote Transformation Center in Hwange which is close to Victoria falls. Her mother died when she was 9 and her grandparents took care of her. However, her basic needs were rarely met and she did not finish secondary education due to lack of school fees. She is showing great passion in sewing. 

Meet Cythia

Cythia is from Donhodzo Transformation Center in Chegutu. Her mother died when she was nine and her then fourteen year old sister took care of her from wages she was earning as a housemaid. Their father abandoned them and she had to drop out of school. This is a brand new start for her and she is quickly learning sewing skills.

Virginia Masuka (Simira Sewing Skills Facilitator) writes, “Our girls are going through a discipleship program from the Navigators, they have also settled well at Greenvalley Church and three of them have joined the church choir. They are in a loving and caring Chistian community. We are thankful to Hands of Hope for making this project possible. God has put them under our care for a purpose greater than the skills we are offering.”

We are able by God’s grace to provide this opportunity for these 6 young women to develop their skills. We long to see them grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior!  Thanks for partnering with us.
