“Praise the Lord, O my soul! . . Who executes justice for the oppressed; . . . Who gives food to the hungry . . . The Lord protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow” Psalm 146:1;7;9

Blessed Tembo’s Testimony

My father was promoted to glory when I was 8 years of age and we were left hopeless. Getting food on our table was a daily struggle and going to school had become just a dream.

However, I give thanks to God because He raised up people who positively impacted and influenced my life. I grew up in a high density area in Highfield and the Nazarene church under the leadership of pastor Mutatu was my church home. He allowed me the opportunity to enroll in the Philadelphia feeding project. The church, partnering with Hands of Hope Trust changed the direction of my life. They supported me with school fees, school uniforms, food and above all spiritual input and that helped me to understand the gospel!

Because of God’s grace I managed to excel in my studies beginning with primary school, then high school and currently I’m doing my 3rd year at the local private University. I’m working on a Bachelor of Science degree in development studies. This is a multidimensional program which covers a wide discourse of human rights. Currently I have a 1 year internship with Hands of Hope and work with the HOH staff full time. I’m focusing on the monitoring and evaluation of projects. Uncle Gari our HOH project administrator has been discipling me for many years and I have learned so much from him in regards to leadership, life skills and how to love Jesus with all my heart. I have been leading week long HOH Vacation Bible School Camps at Habitation of Hope for quite some time now.

I’m eager to achieve my full potential by God’s grace. My desire is to be a lawyer in the justice field defending the rights of children starting in Zimbabwe. It is my passion to assist vulnerable children and in order to achieve this I’m also studying theology. This is critical as I long to teach children to know Jesus and His will for their lives.  I am a very grateful disciple!

Your support enables us to give children from “hard places” like Blessed a hope and a future.  He received his first meal in 2004!  Now he is working with HOH.  We give praise to our God and King!
