“Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God]—blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he” Proverbs 29:18

In 1997 Patty and I purchased 4 acres of land. There were 2 slabs of cement for a home and a cottage. We had a vision of having an orphanage for a dozen children. The Bible says, “That we make our plans, and the Lord directs our steps.” Here we are 26 years later with 18 Hands of Hope homes. We stand in awe of how the Lord has not only directed our steps but has provided beyond what we could ask or think. We were also able to purchase an adjacent 6-acre property with a wonderful home already built.

Currently, the homes have 23 children. The school term has come to an end and the children are ready to rest. Pastor Mutatu and his wife Irene have organized some extra lessons for the 4 children who are writing their public exams this year. The rest of the children will continue homeschooling during the holiday.

Sanita, Mercy, and Lassword (above) joined the home early this year on a place of safety basis. A place of safety means it’s a temporary placement of children removing them from a potentially harmful environment until it is safe to take them back or provide alternative care depending on the circumstances of the child. They have settled in well and the grace of the Lord Jesus is bringing healing to their troubled and broken hearts. There is a song by Franny Crosby which says, “Rescue the perishing, care for the dying, snatch them in pity from sin and the grave; weep o'er the erring one, lift up the fallen, tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.” That is our calling!

Yes, without a vision people perish and included are the “children of the world.” Our Lord Jesus is not wishing for any to perish, especially children who need to hear His tender sovereign call. Without your partnership Sanita, Mercy, and Lassword would not be growing in grace and knowledge of our Savior and King.
