“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deut. 6:6-7

Hillside Home

Girls in our Hillside home in Bulawayo (second largest city in Zimbabwe) belong to a Bible study group which helps them understand the word of God. The motto for the Bible Club is to, “Know Christ and make Him known.”

One of our girls through this club and her school successfully recorded her first song which is being played by others at school as well as at Church. These young girls also organized a conference this year for young people in their community with the aim of bringing awareness about drug abuse. We are excited about the growth that we have seen in the girls, so please join us in praying that they will continue to “grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Kudzi is a new girl who has joined their family this year. She is 14 years old and came to us because the impact worker from the “Child Protection Community” found her working on a local farm. Her parents are divorced, and the mother got married to someone who prohibited her from living with them. Her father disappeared to South Africa, and she ended up staying with someone who could not send her to school and eventually made her go to work. But now she is enrolled at our church bridging school doing grade 5, until we find a place for her at a formal school very soon.

Biblical instruction holds profound significance for children at risk as it serves as a transformative tool for empowerment and hope. Children begin to discover their unique identity and purpose. Education becomes a pathway to break the cycle of disadvantage, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to navigate life with resilience and faith. You are helping us change the lives of children like Kudzi for time and eternity.
