Simira Sewing Skills Training 2026

Hands of Hope Trust in Zimbabwe remains committed to empowering vulnerable girls through sustainable skills development initiatives that promote dignity, self-reliance, and long-term livelihood opportunities. As part of this commitment, 15 girls from various Hands of Hope residential homes and transformation centers have successfully graduated from our 2026 “Simira Sewing Skills Training Program” at our Habitation of Hope campsite.

The program was for eight months, during which they received structured training in sewing and garment making, alongside personal and spiritual development activities designed to nurture responsibility, confidence, and positive life values. They also earned a “Certificate in Biblical Ministry” from Harare Theological College!

Plaxedes Turned Opportunity into a Future

Meet Plaxedes, a graduate from our first “Skills Training Sewing Project.” After her father passed away in 2000 and her mother 2 years later, Plaxedes and her 2 older brothers joined the Philadelphia Transformation center (Feeding project then) in 2001. Her life was changed since her father was the bread winner and she found herself in a child-headed family.

After graduating from Hands of Hope with a sewing machine, she established her own tailoring business in Stoneridge. She reinvested her earnings, acquired two industrial sewing machines, built a three-room brick home and now pays her own children’s secondary-school fees. Hands of Hope gave her the skills and tools to get started.

Special thanks to each of you! Know for sure that Plaxedes appreciated the wonderful opportunity that she was given and she is so thankful to our Lord for your generosity.
