A Journey Shaped by Hope
My name is Leonorah Chikatanga, and I grew up in a strong Christian family. Even though my grandparents founded our ministry and my parents were pastors, I struggled with anger and found it hard to forgive. When I was 12, I gave my life to Christ and began serving in our Child at Heart children’s ministry.
Our church ran a daily feeding program where children came to sing, recite a Bible verse, and receive a meal. Through this program, I learned about Hands of Hope, and in 2014 I was selected to attend the leaders’ camp.
The Camp That Changed Everything
The 2014 Hands of Hope camp was my first time away from home, and it was an unforgettable experience. We enjoyed fun activities and made new friends. That camp marked the beginning of a journey I am still on today. Since 2014, I have remained actively involved in children’s vocational Bible camps, and they have had a deep impact on my life. Through these camps, I learned how to trust Christ amid the trials of life, share my testimony, and to love children like Jesus. i
After completing my O’ Levels, I studied nursing and hotel catering. I hope to open another Child at Heart branch to continue ministering to children and reminding them that God loves them no matter what. I am forever grateful for the opportunity I received in 2014 - it helped shape me into the person I am today.
Paul exhorts Timothy in 2 Tim. 2:2, “The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful people who will be able to teach others also.” It is because of faithful people like you that we can continue to train up children to love the Lord Jesus and young people to build His kingdom in Zimbabwe! Please pray for Leonorah and our Child at Heart transformational center children.
