“Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.” 1 Timothy 4:12
Hillside House of Hope in Bulawayo
I want to share about two girls who are showing themselves as examples of those who believe. Pastor Gideon, his wife Jennifer and the church body are investing in the lives of the 12 girls who are under their care and protection. Here are their stories in their own words!
I am Nicole, with a passion for excellence. As a skilled seamstress, I have honed my expertise in sewing, with a keen eye for detail and a flair for creating beautiful, garments. My experience in hotels and catering has also equipped me with a solid foundation in hospitality and event management. My favorite scripture is Jer 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” This verse reminds me that even when life feels broken or uncertain, God has a beautiful plan for me. He does not just see my past—He sees my future!
My name is Memory, and I am a bright and energetic 11-year-old with a desire to help others. I am in grade 4 and excited about being able to attend school. When I am not in the classroom, you can find me on the netball court, playing the game I love with my friends and teammates. I aspire to become a nurse one day, because of the opportunity to make a positive impact on people's lives, provide care and comfort to those in need. My favorite scripture is Psalm 23:1: “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.” This verse reminds me that God takes care of me. Even when I feel afraid or unsure, He is guiding me, protecting me, and providing for me. Since coming to Hillside, I have learned that Jesus is gentle and faithful. He does not leave me when things are hard. He walks with me, even in the dark places, and He always brings light. I have learned that I can trust Him with my life, my dreams, and my future.
Paul wrote to Timothy, a young pastor in Ephesus who needed wisdom and encouragement. These two girls came into our care because you cared! You are living out the words of our Lord who said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive. Your investment is making an eternal impact.
