Education Update

Christ for Salvation partnership

Our partnership with Christ for Salvation church (previously the Donhodzo Project) in Chegutu has resulted in the educational support of several of their young people through high school and now university level or skills training courses.

Our first university student, Tonnex is progressing well at Midlands State University where he is studying for a Bachelor of Science Honors degree in Geography and Environmental Sustainability. Tonnex plays club soccer at the university which allows him some relaxation. He is hoping to work as an international auditor and help orphans and vulnerable children as a way to give back to society and God. We are so thrilled to have seen Tonnex grow up from a young teenager and to have achieved so much academic success and become a leader.

Christopher did well at A level in 2022 at Mt St Mary’s boarding school but needed to repeat and pass English O level in 2023 in which he was successful. He is now in the process of applying to various local universities and considering computer science, software engineering and financial mathematics.

Our last students at Mt St Mary’s baording school were Ratchel and Tanyaradzwa, who await their A level exam results taken in November 2023. They both took art subjects and hope to gain university entrance in 2024.

Jan 2024 Update:

Tanya and Ratchel both received good A-Level results. This means that they can now apply to local Universities. All are very pleased with their results!

Sharon, Panashe, and Tinashe have elected to take the path of skills training locally in Chegutu and will  learn Cosmetology, Building, and Motor Mechanics respectively. They will work towards National Certification and have apprenticeships once they finish either a one year or three-year course.

All these amazing young people frequently express their deepest gratitude for being given the opportunity to go to reputable schools and training colleges as they know that educational achievement will give them a huge advantage in the very difficult economic environment of Zimbabwe. We have already seen transformation in so many ways. They have become healthy, confident, hopeful young people with servant hearts, and most have also developed leadership skills. What a joy it has been to watch!
