Transformational Centres AWANA Olympics

From the 24th to the 26th of November 2023, HOHT hosted an AWANA Olympics at Habitation of Hope. The objective of the Olympics was to bring children together and teach them the word of God in a child-friendly and age-appropriate manner. We had a total of 5 pioneering transformational centres (TCs): Chitungwiza, Bulawayo, Green Valley, Rugare, and Arcadia. We hosted a total of 155 children.

There were five different categories: netball for girls, five-aside soccer for boys, AWANA games, quiz contests, and choir competitions. Every child was eager to take part. They participated to the best of their abilities. The quiz covered the curriculum from the AWANA and Navigators books, which included Bible stories and scripture memory. It was amazing to see children recite more than 12 Bible verses. They had a total of 52 Bible verses and they recited all of them.

The Olympics ended on a high note as the winning teams received their awards. They received awards in the form of shields which were accompanied by money. We are happy to report that the winning centres went on to buy clothes and have a closing party for their children as they were closing off for the Christmas holidays. For the children from Bulawayo, it was an amazing experience because it was their first-time visiting Habitation of Hope and Harare. What a wonderful way to enjoy Christmas!

We would like to thank Hands of Hope USA for making this day a success. In addition, we would like to thank all the teachers who contributed towards the training and coming with the children. To God be the Glory.
