We held our annual Care Givers Conference from the 18th to the 20th of March 2022. The goal of the conference was to revive our foot soldiers on child care as well as self-care so that they can take good care of children in their care. It was also a time to remind them of the mission and vison of Hands of Hope.
The first lesson was on Child evangelism focusing on how best Care Givers can minister the word of God to children in their projects. We had great contributions from the Care Givers. It was a time to exchange notes as well as learning new ways of evangelizing to children.
The second day 1st session was facilitated by Dr. Kudzi Chisemwa who focused on the health of the Care Givers. The major focus was high blood pressure and sugar diabetes, the two most common chronic diseases that affect adults in Zimbabwe. The lesson was well received. We are looking forward to see the implementation of suggestions given.
There was time to refresh and exercise with the game session in the afternoon. We did Awana games. Other than the benefits of gaming time stated above, it was also learning time, as we taught them how to run the games at their projects.
The evening session was focusing on child protection. Child Protection is important for Care Givers as they work closely with children and are at risk of violating children’s rights unknowingly. The session focused on child abuse as well as procedures of reporting cases affecting children they work with.
The intended goals of the conference were met. We got positive feed back from the Care Givers. We would like to thank HOH for availing the funds for the conference. We are confident that this conference brought change to the Care Givers who attended.
