Hands of Hope September Newsletter – 2012

One day Jesus asked His disciples this question, “Who do people say that I am?”  They responded with a few different answers.  Then He asked them, “But who do you say that I am?”  Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”  Jesus went on to say that He would build His church based on His identity.

Chemhondoro Church of Hope

Jesus has been building His church ever since the day of Pentecost.  We helped launch this church, about 50 miles outside of Harare on April 1st!  Garaki our National Administrator use to teach at a local high school in a rural area called Mrewa.  He had a strong passion to plant a church and has traveled there every Wednesday for the past year laying a foundation for this church plant.  He led Bible Studies with several teachers and God has raised up some of them as leaders.

We used our feeding model as a bridge builder into the Mrewa Community.  The children that you see are part of the 25 kids we feed every day.  They are also part of the church which has grown in the last 5 months.

Solid Rock Church from Tigard, Oregon sent a team of 22 to work with our HOH team last month.  They were divided into 3 different ministry teams.  One did a VBS program for about 40 orphans, another assisted building a fish growing project and the other team traveled to Mrewa and helped refurbish the building where this church meets each Sunday.  Solid Rock provided the funds for the fish project and the church plant!

The children that we feed will actually help with some self-sustaining micro projects as they are established.  Some of the profits from the projects will go directly to paying for the children’s school fees.  The local officials in Mrewa were open to a church plant because the love of Christ is being demonstrated by giving children at risk a future and a hope!

We have just taken in our first children in 2 of our new homes for orphans!  Lord willing, I will be introducing you to some of these precious children in our upcoming HOH Newsletters.

On behalf of our 6 member HOH/USA board and our 8 member HOH/Zimbabwe board, Patty and I want to thank you again for your faithful partnership.  Together we also want to give praise to our gracious Lord as He continues to do exceedingly beyond what we could ever ask or think!

Because He is building His church and saving children,

Glen and Patty
