Hands of Hope March 2012 Newsletter

Patty and I arrived here safely in Zimbabwe 2 weeks ago. We are settling in for our 5 months of ministry with our Hands of Hope team. Yesterday I met with Jephat, Garikai and Farayi to strategize.

Last Friday I spoke at an Awards Day Lunch for some students from two of our residential homes who are being educated under the ACE program. It is an individualized instruction format. I had the privilege of passing out various rewards based on character and performance. An award for the Outstanding Student was given to a student named Clayton. He came to the Shalom Home about 5 years ago. He was 11 years old and weighed 25 pounds. We didn’t think that he would make it because of malnourishment and the fact that he was HIV positive. He is now 16 and trusts in the Lord with all his heart. He knows he is a walking and breathing miracle. What a blessing for us to share this accomplishment with him. His picture is at the right with his trophy and book. The lady with him is Mrs. P, who hosted this event.

We have just taken in our 4th girl into Dayspring, our residential home in Kyrgyzstan. Kristina is 10 and was walking the streets as her mother was unable to care for her. A “Child Inspector” made a decision to place her in Dayspring. Please pray for her adjustment and growth physically, mentally, socially and spiritually.

We have 6 residential homes with churches that are all poised to take in children. The only thing prohibiting us from rescuing orphans is the system. Would you join with us in praying that the Father of the fatherless would open the hearts of the authorities to enable us to love orphans in His name!

Your generosity is allowing us to minister to precious children at risk like Clayton and Kristina. We hope by God’s amazing grace to fill all our homes in the next 6-9 months. Thanks for your partnership in building His kingdom one child at a time.

For Him and for the children,

Glen and Patty
