A Ray of Hope

A young boy whose parents died of Aids hid himself deep in an abandoned pipe, planning to stay there until he died. Life had just become too hard and he couldn’t find enough food to feed his crying little sister. Early next morning he awoke to see a sight that changed his life. A ray of light shone through a crack onto a rose that was growing deep in the pipe. He thought to himself; if there’s hope for the rose, then maybe there’s hope for me.

 A Hope, a Family and a Future

Hope is one of the many things we long to provide for children from “hard places.” We want to introduce you to the newest little one that the Lord has brought to us. Her name is Kimberly. She has dumped in front of the Sheraton Hotel on the 22nd of April in downtown Harare. She is now part of the Borrowdale Community Church family. We don’t know if she is HIV positive or not at this time, but it doesn’t matter as she will be given the love and care she needs. She joins 7 other precious girls who are now her sisters. Patty and I had the privilege of holding her in our arms at the beginning of May.

“Once I was blind but now I see”

You may recall those words from the man born blind in John 9? What you are probably not aware of is the bcc july

fact that there are 1.3 million blind Zimbabweans?   We support blind pastor, Godfree Chakanyuka’s, and his ministry to the blind. It has been our privilege to supply food for these children who are unable to see what they eat. When a child is born blind they are often cast aside due to animistic beliefs passed on down through the years. Pastor Godfree, his wife and 4 children minister to these precious ones that society calls the “least.” They send them to school, teach them about the Lord Jesus and love them in His mighty name.

My prayer is that the Lord would enlighten the eyes of the hearts of all the precious children entrusted to us so that they would know the hope of His calling, His investment in them and the surpassing greatness of His power towards them!

Thanks for being a part of opening “blind eyes” and hearts to the unfathomable mercies of God.

Thankful for physical and spiritual eyes,                           Website:hohafrica.org
