“This is what the LORD Almighty says; administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the alien or the poor. In your hearts do not think evil of each other.” Zech. 7:9-10

True justice seems in very short supply these days but not 2,000 years ago at Calvary! As we approach Good Friday and Easter Sunday I am reminded that in God’s forbearance He passed over the sins previously committed including yours and mine . . . so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. May our hearts be filled with gratitude and praise as we worship HIM afresh this week!

Duncan, a fatherless boy who was treated unjustly, lived in a city about 150 miles from Harare with his aunt. However, she was very abusive to him, leaving wounds on his back. One of his friends discovered the secret abuse that Duncan was undergoing when he removed his shirt after a soccer practice. His friend reported this to the police resulting in the arrest of Duncan’s aunt. Duncan’s case was then given to the Social Welfare Department to handle. After being released from care in the hospital, they placed Duncan in our ACOP Rugare home.

Since Duncan’s arrival in August of 2010, he has continued with his passion for soccer and his efforts have been acknowledged provincially and nationally as you can see by his medals. The story of Duncan tells a tale of victory overcoming the crushing abuse that an orphan sometimes faces with extended family. We thank God that He has given us homes where we can create a loving and safe environment for these children. Duncan is now able to pursue his God given dreams despite the loss of his parents and the trauma of abuse. He will be turning 13 in July!

Thank you for your loving and faithful support which has given Duncan a hope, a family and a future!
