Hands of Hope January 2015 Newsletter

We just finished celebrating Christmas and the miracle of the incarnation. We praise God for His undeserved mercy and magnify His amazing grace. Jesus came into the world to ransom sinners from the bondage of the one who came to steal, kill and destroy. I was reminded this Christmas of two verses found in Luke 1:78-79.

“Through the tender mercy of our God, with which the Dayspring from on high has visited us; to give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace”

Dayspring in Kyrgyzstan

There are many names of God in the Word of God but Dayspring isn’t one that we often use. Some of you may not know or remember that we have a home that we purchased for a local church in Kyrgyzstan a few years ago? The home is called Dayspring and is bringing light and hope to children from this Muslim country. To our knowledge it is the only home for orphans in the entire country that isn’t an institution!

We took Anya into Dayspring 2 years ago when she was 6. Anya’s mother had mental health problems. When she first arrived it appeared that she had some severe speech problems but it was only because she was scared to talk and had been neglected. Olga (our staff at Dayspring) worked with Anya’ s mother for several months, discovering many of her problems related to her not being able to care for her children due to conditions in the home.  We were able to help with these conditions by hooking up the water as well as doing some simple renovations.  Over the months, when Anya would visit, it became more and more obvious this mother could care for Anya and her brothers with a little help. We offered that help and was able to reunite this family. We keep in close contact and praise the Lord for His tender mercies!

Placing Children

One of the unique things about Dayspring is that we have been able to place 12 children at risk with loving families. We hope that we will see our first little girl adopted from Dayspring by a Christian couple in the near future.

The Lord was so good to Hands of Hope in 2014 and we look forward to seeing His continued hand of mercy in 2015. Patty and I hope to return to Zimbabwe around the 1st of March for about 4 months. We also have some very exciting initiatives for our 134 acre Habitation of Hope property. We can only rescue children from “hard places” because of your generosity. Our entire HOH team plus all the children say – “Thank YOU!”
