Training and Equipping

Jesus said, “Everyone after he is fully trained will be like His teacher.”  I have been thinking about the Lord’s words and asked myself, “Were the disciples fully trained?”  If they weren’t fully trained then who would be?

One of our major initiatives the last two years has been to train and equip our pastors and caregivers as well as HOH project teams at deeper levels.  In February, we hosted our first “Caregiver’s Conference” at the Habitation of Hope Camp property.  Social Welfare was also heavily involved during this event.  This picture shows you many of our precious caregivers.

Camps for Feeding Projects

In February, we also held a camp for 50 of our children from one of our feeding projects in Chegutu, a city about 70 miles from Harare.  These precious children had a once in a lifetime experience.  Jephat, our National Director wrote me this email after being at the camp one day.

“I have just arrived home after a fruitful but very emotional experience. Most of the children we have at the camp are not able to read or write – thus we have set them on a path with happy readers.  Most of them had never tasted cake or ice cream which they all savored tonight.  Plus hardly any had ever had any one sing “Happy birthday” to them – we sang and had fun!  Pastor Abel heard one of the 13 year old girls saying, “Don’t use the toilet- they are for teachers- we use the bush!   It is very difficult to explain how I felt this evening but I’m very convinced that we really are providing hope and a future for the boys and girls from the Donhodzo feeding project.”

Patty and I arrived in Zimbabwe on February 11th.  It is great to be back with our Zimbabwean friends, loving orphans in the powerful name of Jesus. We wish you could be here in person with us but in a very real sense you are because of your prayers and generosity.  Thanks!
